Lib Dem Stephen Gordon: My 1-minute manifesto for South West Norfolk

This week Radio Norfolk has been broadcasting 1-minute manifestos recorded by the general election candidates in Norfolk's constituencies.

Liberal Democrat candidate Stephen Gordon has lived in South West Norfolk for over thirty years; he knows our area well and serves on his parish council. Stephen's statement was recorded by Josie Ratcliffe and transmitted on Thursday 1st June:

"South West Norfolk is the most sparsely populated constituency in the East of England. It is primarily rural. Many career politicians in Westminster have no real idea of what rural life is like and don't have experience of market towns such as Swaffham, Downham Market and Thetford.

"But it is essential that an area such as ours is represented by someone who understands the rural economy, who wants the best for South West Norfolk and can properly represent its people, especially protecting them from the damage Theresa May and UKIP's Hard Brexit will cause.

"I know what village life is like but I also have experience in the wider world. All too often decisions are made without regard to places like South West Norfolk. For example, the way money is allocated to flood defences favours large population centres, not the places where their food is grown.

"I want South West Norfolk to have a proper voice and have an MP who can represent us all. Please vote for me on 8th June."
