Norfolk conference 2017

Members of West Norfolk Liberal Democrats recently travelled to Norwich to take part in the party's annual Norfolk County Conference.

Guest speaker Norman Lamb MP (pictured) told us how the strain on health and care services is affecting his constituents, and took questions on his roles as the party's health spokesperson and chair of the Science and Technology Select Committee. Norman also explained his stance on Brexit as a Lib Dem MP representing an area that voted to leave the EU; a topic that was discussed throughout the event.

Attendees also debated a range of conference motions including: Unitary authorities, Protecting children from online extremism, and Making Norfolk a Japanese Knotweed-free zone.

We then split into groups to discuss Norfolk county council priorities, Brexit (of course), and insights of the election campaign trail from Lib Dem County councillor Steffan Aquarone.

Planning has started for next year's Conference when we hope to welcome many more party members in Norfolk to our discussions on local and national politics and campaigning.
