West Norfolk Liberal Democrats Making a Difference
Celebrating a substantial boost in membership and a significant increase in campaigning capacity and presence, local Liberal Democrats met for their recent well attended AGM, in King's Lynn in confident mood.
The past year has seen increase in Liberal Democrat vote in the Police and Crime Commissioner and in local by-elections in Valley Hill and Heacham wards. In addition, local members played an important role in the EU referendum and now vow to monitor the devastating impact that BREXIT might have locally and nationally.
Outgoing Chair, Richard Coward commented that, "with both the Conservative and Labour parties divided, the Liberal Democrats are well-placed to provide a political home for liberal voices and values, and can look towards the county council elections next May with confidence."
Guest Speaker was former Liberal Democrat MEP for the East of England, Andrew Duff, who talked about the challenges ahead as country finds place in an uncertain world, highlighted by BREXIT and the rise of the populist right on the continent and across the Atlantic.
The Rev'd Simon Wilson was elected as local party Chair, with Rob Colwell to serve as vice-Chair. Rob led the Remain campaign in West Norfolk in relation to the recent EU referendum, and subsequently joined the Liberal Democrats.

The Liberal Democrats are celebrating Sarah Olney's stunning victory in the Richmond Park Parliamentary by-election. Party Leader, Tim Farron commented, "If you decide to sit on the side-lines and feel sad about the world you won't change it. If you decide to roll your sleeves up and take part you jolly well might."
